Computer Literacy

Our Computer Literacy Program, which has been certified by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education, provides computer classes to over 600 primary and secondary students in the Boca Costa region.

Local youth have the opportunity to learn computer skills, gain access to better employment opportunities, improve the lives of their families, and ultimately help improve the quality of life within their communities.

Sponsor a student at $5 per month. Your donation will help us maintain the computers and pay for electricity and the teacher.

After-School Tutoring

Our After-School Elementary Tutoring Program helps children aged 5 to 11 to finish school. Our tutoring center, in the village of Pasac in Nahualá, Sololá, about three and half hours from Guatemala City, serves 250 children.

Each student comes in twice weekly to work with tutors in their native language K'iche' and in Spanish. Children work on a variety of subjects such as math, communications, language, technology and computers. They also receive extra help in environmental education and art.

Sponsor a student at $10 per month.Your donation will help us to acquire books and school supplies, as well as pay for tutors.

University Scholarships

University Scholarship

We provide full-tuition university scholarships to indigenous youth from families that earn $2 or less per day. Our scholars come from coffee-growing communities in rural Guatemala, and they are the first in their families to study past elementary school. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic promise, and commitment to promote community development where the students live.

Our students study in cities near their village and remain vested in their communities in Guatemala. We require our scholars to attend Roots & Wings International monthly development meetings. These meetings provide the students space to discuss their struggles and their aspirations while also providing an opportunity to apply their education to development issues in their communities.

For less than $3 per day you can provide a university education for a young Guatemalan and be a part of the transformation of his or her community.

Sponsor a scholar at $80 per month
